A special performance has been added to the Carole King and James Taylor Troubadour Reunion tour at 7:30 pm on July 12, 2010 at River Run in Sun Valley, benefitting The Sun Valley Center for the Arts and the Alliance for the Wild Rockies.

The genesis of this once-in-a-lifetime reunion tour were 6 performances by King and Taylor in 2007 celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Los Angeles´ famed Troubadour nightclub. At that club some 40 years ago, Taylor urged King to emerge as an artist from behind her piano, a seminal moment in the history of these Pop Singer-Songwriter icons.

An ardent advocate for educational and environmental issues, King, a long-time resident of Idaho´s Sawtooth Valley, selected The Sun Valley Center for the Arts, a non-profit educational arts organization whose mission is to stimulate and provoke the imagination through excellence in diverse arts programs; and the Alliance for the Wild Rockies, a volunteer organization meeting the challenge of saving the Northern Rockies Bioregion from habitat destruction, and the driving force behind NREPA (the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act).

"We are thrilled to be a stop on Carole King and James Taylor´s Troubadour Reunion tour. To be selected as both a presenter and beneficiary of this concert is a great honor," said Bill Ryberg, Executive Director of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts.

"At an elevation of 5,945 feet, the air in sun Valley is rarified - and so is the clientele of the area's top-flight art galleries.  Serving the valley's plethora of well-heeled and well-educated art collections of art galleries that could hold their own in Manhattan, Berlin, London or Los Angeles."

Live Music
The
Sun Valley Pavilion at the Sun Valley Resort is inspired by its natural setting and destined to become a wonderful gathering place for performance events.

The sky and mountain are captured by the free flowing sensual roof, comprising of a seasonal luminous tensile membrane covering nearly 1500 seats and a permanent steel cable net with a copper roof structure providing cover over stage and support facilities. The surrounding landscape is be sculpted into an undulating park gently elevated like a natural amphitheatre, so you are be able see Trail Creek Canyon, Dollar Mountain and Baldy while you relax with your picnic basket and enjoy a variety of high-quality entertainment.

The facility is a technological and structural accomplishment. It demonstrates how permanent and seasonal structures can be integrated to offer the best of both worlds: use of wood for acoustic blending and a tensile membrane for luminous reflective space. The ambiance - an interior space and an outdoor room drenched in diffused sunlight. The Sun Valley Summer Symphony hosts its season at the facility along with many other events, each with an intimate relationship to the stage with unobstructed sightlines and excellent sound quality.
