The Sun Valley Symphony will dedicate the entire first week of the summer series to Beethoven.
The series will begin on Monday, July 27, with—following a traditional “Star Spangled Banner”—a Beethoven double bill. First, the orchestra will perform the famous overture to “Creatures of Prometheus,” the only full-length ballet that Beethoven composed. Following that, guest star classical pianist Orion Weiss will perform Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor,” the composer’s final piano concerto.
The Beethoven series continues through the week. On Tuesday, cellist Amos Yang and pianist Peter Henderson will perform in a chamber music program at The Community Library, playing Cello Sonata No. 4 and Piano Sonata No. 4.
